  1. Introduction

This paper is a marketing account of myself that encapsulates my qualities, potential, strengths, as well as my weaknesses. It all also covers the niches that I consider viable for myself in the employment market, and why I feel fit to market myself for these opportunities, as well as the importance of this marketeering.

This paper is ordered in SEVEN sections labeled in Roman numbers (I–VII).

  1. Situation Analysis

In brief, I am a well-rounded individual who has overcome many challenges to get to where I am. I have accomplished many academic feats and have been awarded in some, recognized in others.

Below, I have prepared a SWOT analysis of myself in order to give a general bird’s eye view of my standing:

Strengths:

I am very strong-willed, focused and possess a great wealth of determination. I consider myself well informed and highly educated. I also possess a combination of skills that are well marketable, such as the understanding of computers and technology, people skills, communication and language skills.

Weaknesses:

I can be impatient at times, and therefore expect quick results or outcomes from ventures and undertakings. Also, I tend to prefer to have things done my way, so I usually take the lead on projects, and insist that the rest of the members follow and apply my methods.

Opportunities:

The job market right now is open and receptive of people who are multi-skilled and also demonstrate a high level of innovation and taking initiative. This is valuable because it awards merit to individuals with such skill sets, like myself.

Threats:

Inasmuch as the job environment is receptive to highly skilled and highly educated individuals, there is also a narrow space for employment, where many people, especially those who are qualified for the opportunities they seek, still strike out. This, I consider the biggest threat to my marketability.

III. Objectives

These are among the objectives that I intend to achieve:

  • To acquire a job experience internship for the time being.
  • To have a well-paying job in eight months.
  • To eventually earn $90,000 a year.
  • To buy a house of my own in three years.
  • To start my own business in four years.
  • To further my education through a Masters degree in a related field in 6 years.

  1. Target Market

I am interested in the diverse world of social media: a platform where organizations have the platform to interact with their consumers in a two-way model and be able to gain visibility. A large number of organizations, regardless of their field of engagement currently engage in social media to reach out to their publics.

This usually comes under the Marketing Department, in the position of Social Media Manager or Director, depending on the organization’s structure, and this is where I believe I will be most exertive and impactful.

I am seeking new techniques and purpose that technology, and especially social media, can be used to communicate. This position requires a high level of understanding of marketing trends, social media tools, creative content creation and editing skills, all of which I greatly possess.

  1. Positioning and Core Strategy description

My competitive advantage comes in through my vast knowledge of technology and changing trends. This enables me to adapt and make amends to what I know already, therefore making me a better fit always, as the environment around me evolves.

Also, I am considered a powerful orator with communication skills that can drive the point in half the time it takes most people. This way, I am able to capture people’s attention much faster and be able to communicate my intentions and garner feedback.

Third, I have the ability to take charge of broken situations and turn them around. This has enabled me in the past to restore confidence in both myself, and friends and acquaintances that had mini-crises. In this way, I always saw and provided a solution even when it seemed bleak.

In brief, my brand statement can be summed up to that of unmatched reliance, adaptability and communicativeness.

  2. Product:

I am a versatile individual with a vast knowledge and understanding of communication and communication needs that organizations are faced with. With this understanding and the knowledge of the means and methods that need to be taken to achieve the communication objectives, I am set apart from other individuals that basically seek to be employed into a department within an organization and arbitrarily assigned.

  1. Price:

For my service, I ask for not less than $70,000 per year, which translates to close to $6000 per month, exclusive of benefits and allowances. The $70,000 can be negotiated either lower or higher depending on the level of actualization of the promised deliverables.

  1. Promotion:

In order to reach out to potential employers, I will engage job-search websites as well as social media sites such as LinkedIn, where professionals are provided with a platform to network and also become aware of opportunities. To continue building my own visibility, I will take on free and low-paying tasks in organizations that do not want to hire long-term staff in order to garner experience, and gain prominence in the field through the exhibition of my skills. Also, I will have copies of my resume present at all times so as not to pass an opportunity if it comes my way.

  1. Distribution/Place

I believe I can find this opportunity/position in New York City, where there are several multi-national and multi-million dollar corporations that already engage in the field I am interested in. Generally though, I would like to work at a place with like-minded individuals who are intent on achieving the same goals as I do. I would feel most comfortable at a place where creativity and innovation is emphasized and is actually an element of the organizational culture.

VIII. Action Plan

This is the timeline of the self-marketing activities I plan on engaging in:

  1. Acquire a work-experience internship for the next seven months
  2. Use the work-experience internship as a platform to send out resumes
  3. Consistently engage social media sites to find work for two months after the internship.
  4. Engage job sites to send out resumes and connect with potential employers.
  5. Perform small-scale tasks for free or at a discounted price for a period of two months after the internship in order to gain visibility.
  6. Take part in interviews for the position, and also positions that have similar responsibilities as the position I am seeking, in order to get a wider understanding of the employment trend.
